As we move closer and closer to opening night for ¡Viva la Revolución!, our Day of the Dead celebration, Olga has been sharing insight to the development process of this original work. On her team of collaborators are multi-threat talents of actors, singers, dancers and all around creative heads, and we’d like to use this blog to introduce you to this year’s muertos. (Watch for more artist profiles every week or read those that have already been published.)
Today, we want you to meet Amber Mitchell, 13, who is thrilled to make her Miracle Theatre debut in ¡Viva la Revolución! She is very excited to be working with Olga Sanchez and the talented cast and creative team of this production. Amber has been performing and training in musical theatre since the age of 6 and most recently played Mary Lennox in Lakewood Theatre’s The Secret Garden. Amber has been in numerous productions at Northwest Children’s Theatre, Portland Opera and Lakewood Theatre Company, and has recently joined Oregon Children Theatre’s young professionals program. She has been training at StageCoach Theatre Arts School for over four years and loves every minute she is acting, singing or dancing. Amber was honored to receive the OTAS award for Rising Star this year and she was nominated for a PAMTA in 2009 for her title role performance in Annie. She sincerely thanks Olga for all of her support and for allowing her to be a part of this incredible production.
