Angela Bolaños ……of all the flowers in the garden…..

During the run of La Celestina, Milagro is thrilled to exhibit work by visual artist Angela Bolaños, who also designed the image for the show’s postcard. Angela has brought six pieces to share with you, so plant to check them out when you come to see the show. And remember, if you are interested in purchasing one of them, a portion of your sale will benefit the theatre!

Artist Statement
The presence of expressive curves, organized patterns and overall attention to detail in my work, correlate directly with my innate desire of externalizing my thoughts by way of coded, abstract, intense shapes which allow the viewer to dissect them at their own will, naturally applying their own preconceived notions of aesthetics. Even when silently absorbing the combination of color, shape and texture, the viewer becomes actively involved in the creative process, inserting themselves as the last part of these private puzzles.

Las curvas expresivas, patrones organizados y total atención al detalle presentes en mi trabajo, están directamente relacionadas con mi deseo innato de exteriorizar mis pensamientos a través de formas codificadas, abstractas e intensas las cuales permiten que los visitantes las diseccionen, naturalmente, aplicando sus propias nociones  referentes a la estética. Incluso al solamente presenciar y absorber la combinación de color, forma y textura silenciosamente, los visitantes se convierten  en parte del proceso creativo, conviertiendose en la última parte de estos enigmas privados.
