Teatro Milagro is flying high «like the wings of a raven», recently returning from a 10-day, three state tour, where they conquered the hearts and minds of the Tulipanes Festival as well as students at DePaul University, Hope College, Hampshire College and UMass Amherst, with their tour de force, Frida, un retablo.
The production is a rich tapestry depicting the life of this passionate artist. The four actors play the roles of some of the luminaries that were part of Frida’s world, such as Andre Breton, Leon Trotsky, and of course, her talented and troublesome husband, Diego Rivera. The play also reveals the interplay between three aspects of this amazing painter who turned her physical and emotional struggles into some of the most striking, memorable and significant works of Mexican and surrealist art.
