As part of JAM: July at Milagro, you can learn how to make and play your own zampoña! Join us for a FREE weekend workshop called «Música andina» from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday July 13 and from 10 a.m. -4 p.m. Saturday, July 14 at El Centro Milagro (537 SE Stark St., Portland).
On Friday night, enjoy a demonstration of the zampoña, one of the oldest wind instruments of South America, performed by one of Miracle’s favorite musicians, Gerardo Calderón of Grupo Condor. Then on Saturday, craft your own zampoña to play at an informal student recital.
This workshop is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required. Class size is limited and registration closes one week before class starts. The instructor is bilingual. To register, call 503-236-7253 or write to malan@milagro.org (be sure to include your full name, phone number and the name of the class).
See you this summer at Milagro!
