It is once again the time of year when folks ward off the cold by gathering in the warmth of family and community, celebrating and sharing the accomplishments and bounty of the year, and it is no different for the Milagro family!
Our good friend, collaborator and supporter and recent birthday boy, Joaquin Lopez (pictured on the right) organized a wonderful Friends & Family Night in support of our touring program. For the entire day of Nov. 22, La Bonita North donated 20% of the proceeds! The funds raised will help support an art installation by Susana Espino that will accompany the renewed bilingual touring show, Cuéntame Coyote, opening at Milagro Theatre Jan. 9. Patrons were able to meet the cast and author, and see examples of Espino’s vision and past work, such as the Casa Azul exhibit that impressively complemented the popular production, «Frida, un retablo».
The event at La Bonita North followed on the heels of a lovely evening co-hosted by Hacienda CDC in El Zócalo in support of Willamette Week’s city-wide campaign, the Give!Guide, which benefits 127 specifically selected non-profits, in addition to Milagro and Hacienda with exciting incentives by local businesses. These events also overlap our fall appeal drive to our dedicated contributors, and you too can help Milagro continue providing extaordinary Latino theatre, culture and arts education for the enrichment of all communities. If you’re interested in donating directly or making an in-kind donation, don’t hesitate to contact our Develoment Assistant.
We are immensely grateful to all the donors who came out to the events or donated online (and if you haven’t, there’s still time), but Milagro is also giving back! We are proud sponsors of the upcoming, booty-shaking, Salsa Night organized by the Community Alliance of Tenants this Friday Dec. 6. Join us at Andrea’s Cha Cha Club to celebrate 17 years of tenant advocacy and education!
