3 More Chances Left to See
El Payaso

El Payaso had a great opening this weekend. Despite the snow, we performed to a nearly sold-out house on Friday and enthusiastic crowds on Saturday and Sunday. Several community partners turned out for the environmental resource fair, which was also well attended and very informative. We were very fortunate to have in the audience on Friday, Ben Linder’s brother John, who loved the play. On Saturday, Don Macleay, the engineer who worked most closely with Ben, flew up from Oakland to see the show with his family and joined the actors on stage for Saturday’s talk-back.

Highlights from this weekend’s talk-backs:

«I thought the cast did a wonderful job of weaving water, culture and politics into ben’s story. The second mural backdrop brought such life to the stage and the choreography was beautifully done.»
— Susan Bloom, The Ben Linder Scholarship Foundation

«Gilda Granados, who had a third grade education, was trained to be an electrician and run the power plant, which she still does today. Gilda had a chance to see the script and she was very honored to have been recognized in the play. Currently they have over 30 clean water projects in addition to the power plants. You can find out more on our Facebook Page: ‘Nicaragua 1980’.» — Don Macleay

«It’s such an important message. It’s time for more action and less words!»
— Debbie Kitchen, Central Eastside Industrial Council

«It’s really cool the way the education of science and the art of clowning were blended together!» — Audience Member

«I really liked the play. And even though I don’t speak any Spanish, it was understandable!» — Audience Member
